Requested pre delivery inspection to this JLG 1850 machine checked for operators manual, structural damage, battery levels, gates, tyres. All hoses checked for any damage or leaks, all oils and coolants checked .key switches and emergency stops checked. checked all elevating and lowering to make sure machine is safe to go on site.

Report of issue with the battery

Works carried out by Engineer:

Arrived on site located machine, customer explained machine was not holding charge and only lasting 30 Minuets. On inspection found machine to be discharged on further investigation found that the AGM Batteries are not holding charge and require replacement. Returned to site to replace batteries, Machine functioning as it should.

Reported Fault

Jib not lowering

Works carried out by Engineer:

Engineer arrived on site, on speaking with the customer we found out that the machine would hub up but not down, the customers workmen had disconnected the hydraulic hose for the down jib function to enable the jib to lower, on further investigation when all hoses had been re-attached the machine would only jib up not down, removed the up and down jib hydraulic hoses and reversed them this seem to clear the fault on the jib, we then put the hydraulic hoses back to their correct places, I topped up the hydraulic oil, carry out function test from ground controls and basket controls machine operating as should be. Customer happy with result.

GCU Fault

Works carried out by Engineer:

Engineer arrived on site to locate machine, the machine would not start. New GCU to fit and calibrate,  on further investigation engineer found that the main Earth lead to the engine bell housing had snapped and tucked itself under the scissor pack, engineer carried out a repair putting a new earth lug on the earth cable and attached it to the engine bell housing, carried out a function test and engine started and machine operated, It was suggested the machine be taken out of service until it is recovered.

Reported Fault

Machine will not lift

Works carried out by Engineer:

Machine had end of line grease switch fault. We pulsed 24v to x307 on the extension module to flash the switch so that we could get the grease pump to kick in. Once the grease pot started it run for about 10min reaching a pressure of 100bar. The grease cycle finished machine was function tested by myself and the customer and fault did not reappear.
